LuDiva: Original Lunar Divination Cards

Are you looking for an easy to read, easy to understand and easy to interpret divination tool? Here it is... LuDiva!

LuDiva (Lunar Divination) was created in an effort to allow me to be able to do readings for people in a way I could connect to. I started with Ryder Waite Smith, but found difficulty in relating to the images and interpret the imagery within. When I would try to look up the meanings of the cards they would vary depending on who wrote the booklet, website, blog and their experience with the card.

As a beginner, it was frustrating so I decided to create my own deck! I thought about the areas of my life I have questions about. I thought about how much detail I needed to fit on a card and not look overwhelmed with words. I thought about what type of images and what the names of the cards would be?

LuDiva Progress

LuDiva started as 26 cards (13+13=26) separated into 5 areas. Each area has 6 cards (3 positive and 3 negative). The last two cards are Yes/No cards. The original usage of the deck meant there could be multiple occurrences of a card when doing a reading (sometimes you might need that card more than once in a spread!), so I tripled the deck. This wound up being too many and double was the sweet spot!

Here is a visual of the progression from sketch to design! I was lucky enough to find an awesome illustrator (insta: @lunarloontattoo_n_) who captured the vision PERFECTLY! I presented her with the reference images I had and told her what I was looking for. The resulting images surpassed my expectations!

Each card's aspect coordinates with a color so that over time you associate the card color with the area the card relates to:

Soul, Self, Beauty - Black
Strength, Healing, Love - Purple
Triumph, Success, Wealth - Gold
Peace, Stability, Luck - Green
Choices - Amber

LuDiva Card

The name of each card is a clue to the meaning and the images were carefully thought out so you can get an instant feel for what the card means. The area the card belongs to is printed under the name, and beneath that, a few words to describe the meaning. Each card features an image of the moon to reveal the answers you need and gently light your way..
